Spy: design and form

Spy combines a closed sideboard body with open lateral compartments. Marconato & Zappa frame the upper surface with a thin edge; a compact plinth supports the volume. Open side elements can provide additional display surfaces.

Manufacturer documents list an entirely lacquered wooden version and another with ceramic top and side surfaces. Images show a dark, understated front and paler veined surfaces. The design can accompany a wall or be considered as a space-dividing element.

Reading the image series

Spy combines open sides with a closed main body, keeping selected objects visible while concealing others. Compare open lateral elements with the quieter closed form. If used to divide space, the rear matters as well; check the intended version and every regularly visible side.

What to compare in the images

Dark low sideboard with a framed top. The complete view explains proportions and spatial effect. Further perspectives reveal how sides, backs or surfaces contribute to the design. Consider which view would frequently be visible in your own space. Another colour or detail remains part of the same product; the gallery brings these views together.

A question for your space

How much pattern suits the wall around the sideboard? Compare the veined top with an understated wall treatment and a few selected objects.

Adapt the selection to everyday life

Storage furniture should begin with the objects it will hold. Books, tableware, media equipment and personal belongings need different compartments and access. Check depth, door and drawer movements and the height of a visible top. Tall furniture can structure a wall; a low unit leaves room for artwork, a mirror or screen. Wall shelves require suitable substrates and fixings; photographs do not establish a load rating. Media furniture also needs coordinated cables, equipment ventilation and screen position. Leave some surfaces deliberately clear. A few objects often reveal the outline and finish better than a crowded top. The gallery helps compare enclosed bodies and open structures. Check internal layout, finish, load limits and fixings for the specific manufacturer version.
