PASADENA by VONDOM: a living room under the open sky

Modular sofas, armchairs, loungers and a daybed give the terrace a generous, inviting character. Discover the collection in green and warm orange.

Generous seating, calm design

PASADENA was designed by Jean-Marie Massaud for VONDOM. The supplied document describes a family of lounge chairs, modular sofas, side tables and sun loungers, listing aluminium, polyurethane and fabrics. A daybed with a canopy also appears in the images. The design combines broad upholstery with a clearly outlined, rounded frame. This creates the impression of a living room continuing into the outdoor space. The woodland terrace in the opening image demonstrates how generous seating can work alongside restrained architecture. Two facing sofas establish a clear centre. The landscape remains open while the seats define a distinct, welcoming area. If you enjoy spending time outdoors with several people, this offers an appealing starting point for a connected lounge arrangement.

Plan modules around your routes

The overhead image of the orange corner sofa makes the modular idea visible. Different directions and a corner can organise an outdoor area instead of simply providing one long seat. For a practical plan, check currently available modules and connecting options in the manufacturer's documentation. Draw doors, terrace edges and routes to the garden first, then add the sofa outline. A corner can create a sheltered conversation area, but it can also narrow a passage. If the sofa stands away from a wall, its back is as important as the front. The green rear view shows how the frame reads from behind. A thoughtful arrangement keeps the garden accessible and gives the remaining furniture a clear point of orientation.

Green and orange create different accents

PASADENA appears here in muted green and warm orange. The green seating accompanies the trees, with yellow or ochre cushions adding a lively accent. Orange introduces a stronger colour statement beside the timber façade. Both versions show how differently the same underlying shape can be perceived. Choose the finish together with the flooring, house colour and planting. A warm fabric can make a seating group stand out beside a dark container home. In a densely planted garden, green may create a quieter connection with the surroundings. One or two coordinated accent colours are often enough. Compare fabric samples in daylight and check the colours available for your selected specification, rather than treating screen colours as definitive samples.

Tables belong in the seating plan

The rectangular tables organise the centre of the lounge and provide a precise counterpoint to the soft seating. Two adjoining surfaces create a different effect beside a large corner sofa than one table does beside an armchair. Think about reach and everyday use: where will drinks stand, where will a book go, and which area must stay clear when someone gets up? Small accessible surfaces can be more useful in a conversation group than a large table placed too far away. The overhead view helps you assess tables and seating together. Allow room to move between the surfaces and sofas. Restrained decoration preserves the clear appearance and lets the tables fulfil their practical purpose.

Loungers and a daybed extend the lounge

Beside the pool, the collection supports a different use: an upholstered lounger invites reclining, while the daybed establishes a separate retreat. The cylindrical head cushion and broad resting surface are easy to examine in the detail images. Consider whether an additional relaxation area will genuinely improve your terrace or whether you prefer to retain more open space. For the daybed, include the height of the canopy as well as its floor footprint. The appearance shown does not establish wind or sun protection performance; check the exact specification and suitable placement. Orient an open lounger thoughtfully towards the view and the sun's daily movement, with comfortable access and appropriate clearance from water and terrace edges.

From a favourite view to a selection

For your PASADENA selection, note the seating arrangement, fabric direction and need for tables or loungers. Photographs and measurements of your terrace help translate the expansive scenes into a realistic layout. The manufacturer's current models provide the basis for checking exact dimensions, materials, care and purchasing routes. Include cushion storage and seasonal use from the start. The collection is most convincing when furniture, circulation and the view work together. A coordinated smaller group may therefore make more sense than filling the entire terrace. Further SkyContainer ideas show how outdoor living areas can connect with different types of home.
